The Wakefield Dog Training Centre Reviews

We have come away much better handlers for Zander and with the confidence that we have tools we can use in the future to help him and ourselves. Would 100% recommend to anyone who is feeling frustrated with their pooch or just needs some support getting them to be as well behaved as they can be.

Lexi

I now enjoy and look forward to our walks and no longer worry about him attacking or lunging at other dogs / cars / bikes / vans. There is still a long way for us to go with Max but already day to day life is much easier! We cannot thank Craig enough for his help and would recommend 110%

Natalie

The course of lessons included an initial assessment, then a full day with Craig and his team of trained dog handlers. This was followed by a series of one-to-one lessons, teaching us how to manage her in the various situations. She is now a much transformed and happier dog and we are delighted with the results.

He was that bad we felt we couldn’t cope with anymore. He has just finished his last lesson and the difference is miraculous! He listens, is so calm and is well on his way to being let of the lead! Wouldn’t go anywhere else, best trainers around.

  • I took our big dominant Bullmastiff for some training as he simply wasn't listening to us on certain things. Jacob has worked wonders training our dog (and me) and within a short period of time we have our perfect, well behaved dog. … More Every single piece of advice given by Jacob has been valuable and has contributed to our dog (and us) having a better life together. I can't rate or thank Wakefield Dog Training Centre enough.

  • Sonny is a rescue dog who came over from Romania. He had lived his whole life (four years) in a shelter so when he came over to the UK to live in a city, he found life very overwhelming and became a very anxious dog, scared of pretty much … More anything and everything except me, his owner. He developed lead aggression and his daily walks became something to dread.
A friend suggested contacting Wakefield Dog Training Centre as she was already working with them and seeing a massive improvement in her own dog. I booked an assessment session, where I met Adam with Sonny and discussed issues that we were having. Adam explained why various aspects of Sonny’s behaviour were happening and really gave me the confidence that it would be possible to make him much less anxious. He suggested a set of five 1-2-1 sessions for Sonny, along with an optional booster day that takes place on the day of your first lesson, I decided to go ahead with both.
When I dropped Sonny off for his booster day, he looked terrified. I genuinely didn’t think that they would be able to do much with him that day. How wrong I was. When I went back six hours later, my dog was bouncing around having a love-in with Adam and Jacob and barely looked in my direction when I walked in. I couldn’t believe the difference. They had taken videos throughout the day so I could see what they had been doing with him. They showed him walking calmly to heel and sat nicely next to a large German Shepherd. All this within a couple of hours. Things I hadn’t managed to do myself in the 9 months I had him.
Our first lesson went over what they had been doing with him on his booster day and showing me what I needed to do to get the same reactions from Sonny. That really is the theme of the training, they are actually training sessions for the owners far more than the dogs.
The trainers at Wakefield Dog Training are all brilliant at what they do. I have had sessions with Adam, Jacob and Craig and all have been really knowledgeable and put me very much at ease. Jacob has been our main trainer and he has been so good at explaining why Sonny reacts in the way he does to different circumstances. The training sessions all focus on a different theme (sit, stay, recall etc.) and Jacob really helped me to understand how I need to act / react in order to get Sonny to do what I want him to do. Like anything else, practice makes perfect and these sessions only work properly if you are constantly putting what they have shown you into practice in real life. It is hard work but it is amazing when I look back as to how far Sonny has come in the last two months.
Sonny isn’t ‘perfect’ yet but our life is so much easier and, more importantly, I have a happy dog who is enjoying his life in the UK now.

  • I didn’t realise how much help I needed with my dog Loki until I brought him for training. Jacob has helped my family and I fall back in love with walking Loki, the progress Loki has made in a short space of time is truly amazing his … More whole attitude has changed towards lead work. Would 100% recommend the trading centre to my friends and family

  • Rescued an 11 year old Labrador in September. Unfortunately she wasn't lead trained, and had a few behavioural issues when on a lead. We took a set of lessons with Wakefield Dog Training Centre. Very glad we did. Miley has improved … More vastly and although still a work in progress, she is a pleasure to take for a walk now. As well as the basic lessons which were all one to one , I had Miley do what was called a Booster session. Which comprised of a whole day of one to one assessment, Miley and instructor only. Again well worth it , as it gave the instructor chance to see Miley as a whole. I cannot thank Jacob Morgan enough.

  • I have worked with both Jacob & Adam during my one to one sessions at the centre with my dog and I cannot rate them highly enough. They have helped me to enjoy my dog again and ultimately improve her life, which was my main goal. They … More carried out a thorough assessment, listened carefully to my concerns throughout the training and have given me the confidence to handle my dog. She is an absolute pleasure to walk on the lead now and I understand her much better. As a result of all of this we are both much happier!
Both Jacob & Adam are very patient, calm, understanding and adapt the sessions to suit yours and your dog's needs.
Now for round two with my second dog next week 🙂
